It's certainly interesting to see, I'll admit. I certainly won't be leaving (though archiving things, definitely-- this was just the event to get me off my ass and do it), but having used the site as my main form of social media engagement, it's certainly interesting to watch it burn. I've used Tumblr in fairly different ways over the years, settling into my current passive interaction. Despite having a fair interest in fandom history, I still lack the first-hand experience in what fandom used to be like; this is the first time a fandom site I've used has descended into active antagonism.1
I suppose it will just prepare me for when it happens again. It's likely my inexperience, but the thought didn't pass my mind of Ao3 ever going down--which is rather ridiculous, examined. As history goes, nothing can last forever. So I've made my attempt to archive the 'fic I really enjoy. I suppose, it's just interesting to see this as someone who's never seen fandom come crashing down.

Addendum 2018.12.08: It's certainly interesting to think about a time when 'I was there for the Tumblr purge' will be a Fandom generational equivalent to 'I was there for the LiveJournal Strikethrough & Boldthrough'.

1. Which, considering how much I read 'fic, is partly in thanks to Archive of Our Own. (back)

Well, I've finished Vicious, and I must say, that was certainly a ride. I'll talk more about my thoughts, but it discusses important parts of the plot, so under the cut it goes. I also discovered something quite interesting-- my print copy has a slew of duplicate pages. I'm not sure if I should remove them, or keep them there and add the book to my mutant books collection; I'll have to see. Regardless, I might re-read Good Omens. As much as I love the sharp style of Vicious and the other things I've been reading lately, something more comic would nice.
