Dear Jukebox Creator 2026
May. 5th, 2026 07:16 pmDear Jukebox Creator,
Thank you for writing for me - I look forward to reading your 'fic!
Treats: Yes please.
General Do Not Wants: Explicit Sex or Porn Without Plot (foreplay, fade to black, and other bits of suggestiveness are otherwise fine and encouraged), Omegaverse, Pregnancy (Male or otherwise), Kid 'fic, Infidelity, Character Bashing, Issuefic (first definition on Fanlore), prepubescent underage (so, single digits underage), Entirely Chatlog 'Fic, Breakup 'Fic, Trans Angst focus, Transphobia being overtly depicted/directed at characters, 100% Yearning/Pining 'Fic, 100% Fluff.
General Likes: A willingness to stay in the not-quite-definite territory even expanding songs to ‘fic, blending romantic and platonic love, playing with the intersection of sex/romance/desire & death (if tonally appropriate).
The Questions Still Entertain Me - Hussalonia (Double Fantasy)
Specific Do Not Wants: Despite the incontrovertible influence of John Lennon on both this song and the album it’s from, I’m not looking for Beatles RPF. Also, despite the more autobiographical nature of this song, I’m not looking for Hussalonia Founder RPF either. In the RPM blog that comes with the album, the Founder states pretty explicitly what it’s about, which I am partially ignoring.
Specific Likes: Out of all the threads in this song, I do think the Beleaguered Performer is my favorite. I'll be sweeping in spotlight, every traffic light a stage for me tonight...
Hussalonia songs tend to be better when they’re immediately identifiably about a single thing—this one is not. Instead it flits between at least three subjects: the beleaguered performer, the seeker, the rabbit (and all the threads it weaves), each not quite clear exactly in how it relates to the others but making a harmonious gauzy tapestry nevertheless. The Beleaguered Performer, committed to a stage that destroys him: You will get my best… The Seeker, running in circles for the pictures it makes: I want to look where I know there is no cure…
I am the rabbit you’re depending upon - I was the walrus, but now I’m John! Self-assertion via escape into someone else, doublefold. A beleaguered performer, a shaking off of the past now prepended with the origins of that very past; the little white rabbit, followed as it scampers down, down, down. A sea of objects, ephemera from everyday life suspended underwater. A mysterious song at least a little bit about mysteriosity. Right?
He's My Man - Luvcat
Specific Do Not Wants: No twists where the relationship is secretly horribly abusive in either direction - it's obviously skewed given the murder, but I picture that murder as the conclusion to a silent build-up of long-term longing.
Specific Likes: The "playing with the intersection of sex/romance/desire & death (if tonally appropriate)" of the general likes is pretty much applicable to just this song.
I feel like it's pretty self-explanatory of where to go with this, since it's a story song. I want to the narrator to lovingly murder this dude and absolutely relish the process.
Nowhere Man - The Beatles
Specific Do Not Wants: A work that is entirely Beatles RPF where you're just writing about John Lennon or someone else (a blend of RPF and the song itself a la four sides of the eternal triangle is okay)
Specific Likes: There's just something about the chime-like conclusion to the guitar solo.
Go wild and experimental with this one! It's a little dreamy, this song. The whole nowhereland, and all...which could be anything.
